Linksys SPA3102 VoIP Gateway has a standard feature to connect the phone and fax machines to IP-based network (Internet Protocol). SPA3102 can be used for broadband phone service with automatic path routing for local calls from cell phones and ground cable to VoIP service providers and vice versa. If something goes wrong or internet service is down, then the call can be transferred to analog telephone terminals through FXO interface.

If a user calls using VoIP services through a network access provided by Linksys VoIP gateway, then long-distance phone costs can be lowered. Authentication and call routing can be programmed to route the SPA3102 can be determined so that the Internet and forward it to the destination.

The SPA3102 supports one RJ-11 POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) ports for connecting FXs analog phone existing or fax machine. The SPA3102 also supports one PSTN FXO port to connect to a Telco or PBX circuit. The SPA3102 includes 2 100BaseT RJ-45 Ethernet interface to connect to a home or office LAN, and Ethernet connection to a broadband modem or router. The SPA3102 FXs and FXO lines can be configured via software controlled by a separate service provider or end user.

SPA3102 change the voice traffic into data packets for transmission over an IP network. Compact in design, the SPA3102 can be used consumer and business VoIP service offerings. The SPA3102 uses international standards for voice and data networks for voice and fax operation reliable.
